LOCATION
Ramsden Farm is on the outskirts of the village of Benenden, a classic Wealden
village with a handsome cricket green, local shops and three excellent pubs. The
historic market towns of Cranbrook and Tenterden provide the nearest shopping
centres.
Staplehurst station is 15 minutes' drive away. Trains to and from London run
every 30 minutes (every hour on Sunday). London is 56 miles away and the journey
is one hour.
IN THE AREA
Sissinghurst Castle and gardens, home of Vita
Sackville-West, is close by. Other National Trust properties in the area include
Bodiam Castle and Scotney Castle.
Many other delightful castles, gardens and country houses are
scattered around the nearby Wealden towns and villages. There are also a number
of vineyards and cider makers to visit. Royal Tunbridge Wells and Canterbury are
within easy reach.
THE COAST
Ramsden Farm is about half an hour's drive from the coast. The nearest points
are the ancient smugglers' haunt of Rye and the old fishing town of Hastings.
Between them are the stunning Fairlight Cliffs.Beyond Rye lie
Camber Sands and the Romney Marsh, famous for sheep and lovely churches.
